Getting Started Guide
How should I use Resume Companion?
We recommend creating a "baseline" resume, which is a resume that contains all of your previous work experience and accomplishments. Populate this "baseline" resume with as much information as possible, then create multiple resume versions for each career/occupation you want to apply to. Populating your Resume
You’ll spend most of your time assembling your professional experience and using the search occupation tool to find relevant phrases to add to your resume. This tool will generate a list of popular responsibilities and tasks for your particular occupation that you can then add to your resume.
After you choose the phrases that are revelant to you, make sure to customize them to reflect your particular job history and experience.
Moving and Re-ordering Things Around
Resume Companion gives you full flexibility to re-order a variety of elements, including:
- Entire sections
- Employers
- Job Positions within a Employer record
- Individual bullet points (accessible by clicking on the Edit link for each section)
Recommended Resume Format
We highly recommend a reverse chronological resume for a majority of job candidates, although a functional resume is appropriate for those with non-traditional work histories. Also reference the guides below for more information:
