1. Be Conversational

Instead of writing in a dry, reserved voice, use a casual, friendly tone. You want to engage with the hiring manager the way you would with one of your customers.

Be professional but conversational at the same time. If you come off stiff in your cover letter, who’s to say that’s not the atmosphere you would bring to the coffee shop?
